Theatre

Theatre at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË

The Theatre Department at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË is committed to creative and critical inquiry that reflects on, illuminates, and celebrates the diversity of the human experience.

Through collaboration, interdisciplinarity, community building, and an embrace of innovative artistic and teaching practices, we prepare students to be empathetic artist-scholar-citizens who use their skills to engage with the most pressing concerns of our world.  We welcome students from across the campus to participate in our classes, productions and programming.

Students in Facing Truth

The Theatre Department is committed to presenting theatre that stimulates the minds of our audience members while balancing the highest quality production values with material that is courageous in its content, form and execution.

Theatre's State of the Art Facilities

With modern lighting and advanced sound systems, »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË's three unique theatre spaces offer flexible and spacious areas for rehearsals, auditions and performances.

Students Performing in Cabaret

»Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Theatre produces four main productions each year — two in our 600-seat proscenium space, the Duke Family Performance Hall, and two in the intimate Barber Theatre. Other opportunities include the One Acts, produced each spring, and the Summit New Play Festival.

Current Production Season

The high quality of our performances and related public programs distinguishes »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË in the community. Our faculty and student directors present theatre that matters–productions that have lasting effects on their audiences, casts, and crews well beyond performance nights.

Over the last decade, our productions have won several theatre awards from the Metrolina Theatre Association and Creative Loafing magazine.
