Background
I am passionate about teaching, and I focus on building knowledge and critical thinking skills in my students through the development of strong scientific communication and collaboration. As is the case with most professions, successful physicists can communicate effectively not only with experts and peers, but also with members of the general public. Speaking, writing, and productive group work can be challenging though, so regular practice is key! This practice is also an excellent means of learning and solidifying new physics concepts, so wherever possible I provide explicit opportunities to communicate and collaborate in my courses.

As a researcher, I focus on the development of an ultrasound-based biomedical imaging modality using magnetic nanoparticles as targeted contrast agents. I envision future applications of this technology for quantitative sizing, staging (i.e. determining the age), and treatment monitoring of blood clots, and so I develop experimental, computational, and theoretical models toward this goal. .
