Background
I am a passionate performer and educator originally from Erie, Pennsylvania. I earned my Bachelor of Music Education from Indiana University and taught high school for two years before returning to IU to complete a Master of Music in Voice. I am currently an Adjunct Professor of Voice at 皇家华人, a Teaching Artist with Children鈥檚 Theater Charlotte, a Teaching Artist with Theater Gap Initiative, and maintain a private voice studio. I enjoy teaching various styles and genres including Musical Theatre, Jazz, Art Song, and Opera.
My goal is for students to find their unique sound while gaining a technical knowledge of music and their voice. I have performed regularly across the US, most recently as the role of Susannah in Susannah with CPCC. Other performance credits include Mica毛la in Carmen with GLOW Lyric Theater, Kitty Hart in Dead Man Walking with IU Opera Theater, Yvette in La Rondine with La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy, and numerous children鈥檚 opera roles with Reimagining Opera for Kids and OperaXpress.
I was a featured soloist in Opera Carolina鈥檚 iStream NOW series, with the Lafayette Bach Chorale for the All About Brahms Concert. I toured China with the Windiana Concert Band as the vocal soloist for their New Year鈥檚 Eve Golden Age of Broadway Tour. In 2015, The Indianapolis Matinee Musicale awarded me the Robert and Sophia Marks First Prize Award. I was awarded third place in the North Music Competition, third prize in the London International Music Competition, earned an encouragement award in the Lincolnton Vocal Competition, and was a finalist in Piccola Opera鈥檚 NH Opera Idol Competition.
When I'm not teaching or performing, I enjoy sewing, baking, hiking, or hanging out with my husband, Chip, and my dog, Wallie.
