  • Dean of Students Office:
    Student support, including possible emergency funding and additional resources, email deanofstudents@davidson.edu.
  • Counseling Services for Students:
    The Counseling services staff recognize that one's normal coping capacity can often be overwhelmed by natural and human-generated disasters associated with the destruction and loss of loved ones and irreplaceable belongings.  Disasters also tend to stress emotional, cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and religious/spiritual beliefs. Within our »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË community, you may or have loved ones who are personally impacted by Hurricane Helene. Our Counseling staff holds expertise in trauma-informed approaches to resilience, disaster response and recovery, developmental and wellness techniques, and a humanistic connection to students' lived experiences. Relief Organizations

Relief organizations, such as , recommend that individuals interested in helping with disaster relief work through existing organizations. A financial contribution to reputable relief organizations is one of the most effective ways to support relief efforts.  If you prefer to make a donation, be sure to visit  , , , and the to help assess an organization’s effectiveness in managing donated funds. The following organizations are on the ground in multiple locations and seeking donations.

Civic Engagement Council Hurricane Helene Relief Collaboration Session

Thursday, October 3 at 5 p.m. in the Center for Civic Engagement (Suite 414)
Join student organizations and individuals as they connect with each other in their efforts to help relieve the consequences of Hurricane Helene. Organizations and individuals with specific plans are highly encouraged to attend! For those who do not yet have plans but are wanting to get involved, please attend the event, and we will communicate with you on how you join the efforts. .

WALT DAYS

Wednesday, October 2 from 6 - 8 in Nummit
Join »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË's student radio station, WALT 1610, as they host their annual WALT DAYZ fundraising event from 6-8 p.m. at Nummit. Fundraising has been redirected towards Western North Carolina Hurricane Relief. They will be splitting the proceeds between  and . Join in on a flea market, student art for sale and live student music as profits are donated to identified organizations.

Local Supply Drives

  • Town of »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË
    Collecting donations of high demand items on Wednesday, October 2 through Friday, October 4 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the front of the »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Public Safety Building at 216 S. Main Street in »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË.
  • Temple Kol Tikvah
    Cornelius residents Andrea and Howie Kaplan are organizing a supply drive at Temple Kol Tikvah in »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË, 605 South Street, for Operation Airdrop which flies in supplies to communities in desperate need. Items can be dropped off from 10 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 8 pm Tuesday.
  • Mooresville Kindness Closet
    Their hygiene relief drive is underway and they are collecting essential hygiene items to send to service organizations being set up in the affected areas. 
  • 77 Grounds Coffee
    Deliver donations to 605 Jetton St Suite B, »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË, NC 28036
  • The Lake Norman Chamber
    Leading an effort to collect much-needed supplies to start deliveries to Marion as soon as Sunday morning.
  • Operation Airdrop
    Supply Drop-Off at Walmart Parking Lot (5825 Thunder Rd NW, Concord, NC 28027)
  • The Cove Church
    Donation collection at 197 Langtree Road., Mooresville, NC
