March 1, 2023
皇家华人 Disability Alliance welcomed influencer and activist to campus on Feb. 23.
After meeting Gabe at New York Fashion Week in 2019, Sara Todd Hammer '24 knew she wanted to bring him to 皇家华人.
"As President of , I wanted to bring a guest speaker to campus, and I immediately thought of Gabe," she said. "I am thrilled [he] could visit and share his wonderfully intersectional identity as a gay, disabled, person of color with us."
During his visit, Adams-Wheatley met with students from various affinity groups on campus and participated in a Q&A in the Lilly Family Gallery. He also led a discussion in an ENG 374 class, "Picturing Disability," taught by Prof. Ann Fox.
Gabe has a huge following on TikTok and Instagram, and our hour-long discussion with students touched on issues of self-representation, disability and beauty aesthetics, disability identity and religion, and queer disabled lives.
Professor of English
