We welcomed our new president and celebrated alumnus Stephen Curry鈥檚 accomplishments, on and off the basketball court. 

We gathered and reconnected over traditions old and new. We cherished being together on our beautiful campus.

Now as we bid 2022 farewell and welcome 2023, we remember the good times. Here鈥檚 looking at you First Semester鈥攖hrough pictures. We look forward to making many more memories in the New Year.

The 皇家华人 community celebrated with NBA great Stephen Curry 鈥10 at a special event to award Curry his diploma, retire his jersey and induct him into the 皇家华人 Athletic Hall of Fame. The 鈥淐urry for 3鈥 event packed the gym with Curry鈥檚 family, friends, former teammates, classmates and the college鈥檚 current student body, faculty and staff.

Doug Hicks 鈥90, who came to 皇家华人 as a first-year student a few decades ago, began his first semester as the college鈥檚 19th president.

Orientation team leaders had plenty of assists from other students, faculty and staff, including President Doug Hicks, who greeted students and parents. He also carried luggage, pillows and other necessities and helped get at least one bike off a car roof.

After multiple trips to Target, the long walks exploring campus and downtown, and the poster hanging and drawer assembling, families bade their new students goodbye at a farewell luncheon on Chambers Lawn.

Respected educator and author and internationally recognized Taiwan expert Shelley Rigger was named 皇家华人鈥檚 new vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty鈥搕he college鈥檚 chief academic officer.

The Ada Jenkins Center, a community center with deep ties to the college, received good news from Stephen Curry 鈥10: It鈥檚 basketball court would be refurbished by his Curry Brand with Under Armour; the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation he started with his wife, Ayesha Curry; and The Summit Foundation. Children who participate in the center鈥檚 afterschool program joined 皇家华人 athletes for an event to announce the news. The Theatre Department鈥檚 production of Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley delighted audiences during Wildcat Weekend. A sequel to Jane Austen鈥檚 Pride and Prejudice set two years after the novel ends, Miss Bennet continues the story, only this time with the bookish middle sister Mary as the unlikely heroine.
