Earlier this month, eight »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Herpetology Lab students attended the annual meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists, which was held in nearby Concord this year.

They were selected based on their high-quality research, and each presented their projects at the meeting. Two »Ê¼Ò»ªÈËians, Anna Tutterow '17 and Katie Greene '18, received major awards.

Tutterow won the Student Research Award and $1,000 for her paper, titled "Landscape-Scale Factors Affecting the Distribution and Persistence of North Carolina Bog Turtle Populations." Greene won the Student Oral Presentation Award in Animal Biology for her presentation, "The Effects of Conspecifics on Burrow Selection in Juvenile Spotted Salamanders."
