Kristi Mitchem '92, an executive at State Street Global Advisors, is leading the firm's efforts to launch a new fund aimed at investing in United States companies that "are leaders in advancing women through gender diversity on their boards of directors and in management."

Paul Sullivan writes: "The new fund is part of a wave of so-called impact investments -- those made in companies, organizations and funds with the intention of generating a measurable, beneficial social and environmental impact. SHE is built on research from the McKinsey Global Institute; Catalyst, a nonprofit group focused on women's inclusion; and others that have shown the positive impact women have, or could have, on companies when they are in senior leadership."

Mitchem delivered the keynote address at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË's annual Women's Leadership Conference in February. She was named one of Treasury & Risk's "Top 100 Influential People" in 2008, has been featured in BusinessWeek and has appeared on PBS' WealthTrack, Fox Business and CNN. Mitchem has testified in front of the U.S. Congress in support of improving retirement security, and is named in several patents pending for retirement income solutions.

Mitchem earned her bachelor's degree in political science from »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË, where she was awarded summa cum laude and First Honors. She received a master's degree from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where she was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Mitchem also is a Fulbright Scholar.
