Great Out of the Gate: Class of 2014 Career Outcomes

The »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË Center for Career Development recently released its annual Career Outcomes Report for the class of 2014, featuring a five-year high in the number of graduates employed six months after graduation.

Among the 465 graduates of the class of 2014:

  • 75.8 percent are employed, interning or completing military or volunteer service 
  • 13.3 percent are pursuing further educational opportunities 

Of the various career and educational decisions made by members of the class of 2014, highlights include placements with the U.S. Department of Justice, Deloitte Consulting and Wells Fargo/Wells Fargo Securities. »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË alumni pursuing further educational opportunities find themselves in highly prestigious programs such as the Johns Hopkins University biology and biophysics programs and the medical school at Washington University in St. Louis.

The report, which presents outcomes by both major and career field, also ranks the top metropolitan destinations of the college's newest alumni. The Charlotte area came in at number one with 92 graduates, followed by the New York City and Washington, D.C., metropolitan areas with nearly 50 graduates each. Additionally, more than 10 percent of the class of 2014 now call another country home, choosing to move abroad after their time at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË.

For this latest report »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË used National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) standards and protocols for the collection and dissemination of graduating student initial career outcomes information for undergraduates. In doing so, »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË joins the ranks of more than 250 institutions nationally adhering to these high reporting standards.
